My Philosophy on Manifestation
It seems like we hear the word “manifesting” every day and everywhere now. There are so many videos floating around about how to manifest, “How to Manifest a Boyfriend,” “Beginners Guide to Manifestation,” and “How I Manifested My Dream Job,” but, personally, I don’t believe you can teach manifesting at all. Like everything else in life, what works for one person may not work for you. It’s become such a trend, with so many people participating, that I think we’ve forgotten that it’s really a personal thing.
To me, manifesting isn’t casting spells and expecting the universe to magically drop my dream job in my lap. To me, manifesting is focusing my energy and attention on the things I truly desire with the trust that the universe will meet me somewhere around halfway.
If I were to write a Beginners Guide to Manifestation it would simply state “Do whatever the hell feels right to you.” Sure, I’d give you some suggestions to start. You know, light some candles, journal a bit, maybe repeat the same phrase three times, but at the end of the day, it’s not about what’s worked for me or my friends, it’s about what’s going to work for you. Only you can figure out what works for you. So sure, try journaling (my personal favorite is journaling as if I’m writing a diary entry living in my dream life), try burning the list of traits your future partner will have, try writing your desire in your notes app three times at 3:33. What feels right to you? What do YOU like to do? I like to write (clearly) so, naturally, I take to journaling. I also love singing, so hell yeah, you know I’m belting songs in the shower that reflect how I want my life to look. It’s all about putting your energy into whatever you’re manifesting. Do you like to draw? Draw that Ford Bronco you’ve been dreaming about. Do you like to read? Read an article about the industry you’ve been dreaming about finding a job in.
Hopping (Happy Easter) right off that reading point, manifesting means nothing if you’re not going to put some real-life work into your goals. Sometimes, manifesting and doing the work can look the same. Such as reading up on the industry you want a job in. However, simply writing “I will get a girlfriend” in your journal, is not going to get you a girlfriend. You’re still going to have to put yourself out there and speak to a female specimen to get one of those, I’m so sorry to break that to you. Sometimes, rain falls out of the sky when you need it to— other times, you have to water the plants. Sometimes, you water the plants, and rain comes the next day, but you still had to water the plants yesterday. You water the plants even when the sky’s cloudy, even when you don’t see blooms right away. Manifesting is like that—it’s a little faith, a little effort, and a whole lot of patience.
I look at manifesting as a step in my goal-setting practice. I am outlining aspects of my life, what I want them to look like, and putting my energy into them so the universe knows exactly what I’m working towards. Because yes, of course, I believe in the universe and all her powers. Otherwise, why would I be writing this? I guess you could say I look at manifesting as a tool in my toolbox, it’s not the only thing I have going for me, but it sure is helpful to have. So, yes, I believe in manifesting and I do it all the time, I just think we have to be a little bit more intentional and personal about it. Whether you believe in the full woo-woo power of the cosmos or just think it's a good psychological tool for clarity, manifesting can still be useful. You don’t have to pick a side. You can be into astrology and analytics. We contain multitudes.
If y’all want me to write more about how I like to manifest and how I truly believe I’ve manifested some amazing things into my life, I can definitely do that. But remember, this isn’t gospel—it’s just girl talk; because it’s not just my world and you’re not just living in it, but hopefully, we can help each other out.
Write you soon!
