Taking in the Final Days of Chicago Summer
I know, I know, some of you are ready to hop right into the pumpkin spice of it all, but I implore you to reconsider. In just a few months from now, we will be shivering, throwing on parkas to walk the dog, slipping and sliding around this city, and you will wish you appreciated this Chicago Summer a little bit longer. So, here is how I will be spending these fleeting Summer days, in hopes that it may inspire you to do the same. I promise, future, freezing you will thank you later!
Matcha Matcha Matcha
This Summer has been the Summer of matcha for me, and I’m sure so many others. Before this Summer ends, I have got to try at least one new matcha place, and Noble Fat is at the top of my list. With a brand new storefront in Lincoln Park and a banana bread matcha latte, yeah, I simply must give it a try.
Little Victories
Call me basic, I do not care. I need that chicken caesar wrap like I need water. Plus, I just saw that they have a frozen pornstar martini on the menu? A frozen drink in the Summertime? Sign me up!
Clara on a Thursday Night
Speaking of Wicker Park and matcha! I have got to go to Clara’s for that strawberry matchatini. I mean, are you kidding me? Dream. Plus, there is nothing I love more than live music, and they’ve got live jazz every Thursday night. I suppose this doesn’t have to be relinquished to the Summertime, but I just think that matchatini would hit in August.
Street Fests
One of the best things about a Chicago Summer is the amount of street tests going on every weekend. I’ll be hitting the Greektown Greek fest this weekend to get myself a Greek frappe iced coffee. I’m sure there’s plenty more going on; there is every weekend, almost everywhere, and it is a great way to explore different neighborhoods.
Long Walks
The number one thing I’m going to be missing when I’m shivering my timbers this Winter will be long walks. There’s nothing better than exiting my apartment, AirPods in ears, Strava on, with no destination in mind.
Patios!
I will be sitting my little behind on as many patio chairs as humanly possible before the sun starts setting at 5 pm. There is just something about some drinks, some friends, some appetizers, all on a patio that makes this Chicago girl’s heart feel so full.
I hope you’ll steal some of my recs and must-tries to enjoy the rest of the final Summer days. Let’s enjoy it while it lasts, y’all!
Write you soon!
